The top-of-the-line airbag backpack from BCA (BackcountryAccess) is almost invisible on the back, but its volume is sufficient for the necessary backcountry equipment.
The BCA Float 32 is not much heavier than conventional trekking backpacks (2942 g with cylinder), but it contains a compressed air cylinder system that will significantly increase your chances of survival in an avalanche.
In the event of an avalanche, the backpack will give you a chance to survive with the help of a cushion that will instantly fill with air, allowing you to stay on the surface of the avalanche flow.
The 150 litre BCA Float 32™ 2.0 avalanche airbag not only creates buoyancy and reduces the depth of immersion, but also protects the head and neck from injury in an avalanche.
The robust single-chamber cushion is filled with air from a 207 bar cylinder and is activated by an Ergo Trigger, which can be placed on the right or left shoulder strap.
All the elements of the Float 2.0 system are housed separately behind a zip-top pouch, freeing up valuable space in the main compartment for equipment, first aid kit and supplies.
Compressed air tanks and snowboard bindings are sold separately.
With 200 authorised BCA cylinder filling points worldwide, this system is the easiest airbag system to refill on the market.
BCA recommends that you activate the system at least once a year, and then replace or refill the cylinder in the most convenient way for you.
