MANUFACTURER

Camp

Camp (C.A.M.P., Concezione Articoli Montagna Premana - mountain equipment from Premana) is an Italian company, one of the world's leading manufacturers of equipment for outdoor recreation and sports, mainly mountain views: rock climbing, rock climbing, trekking, caving, tourism, as well as industrial safety.
It was founded in 1889 in the north of Italy in the small village of Premana by the blacksmith Nicola Codex and initially specialized in the manufacture of forged products for everyday needs, in particular the production of bells for livestock. In 1920, the first ice axes under the brand name S.A.M.P. were made by order of the army, and after the start of cooperation with one of the leading climbers in Italy, Riccardo Cassen, he completely turned to the manufacture of sports equipment. Currently part of the CAMP Group, it also combines the Cassin and CAMP Safety brands. Areol popularity and authority of the cult climber dramatically increased the interest of the owners of the company to the market, which began to develop dynamically in the late 60s.
The third generation of C.A.M.P. hosts, Orazio, Nicollino, Samuele and Benedetto, constantly collaborated with the strongest climbers in the world. This collaboration allowed the creation of revolutionary equipment such as the Hummingbird ice hammer (Hummingbird), Foot Fang cats, Tri-Cam friends.
Later, the influence of such cult climbers as Renato Casarotto, Jerzy Kukuchka, Patrick Gaborro created innovations for extreme mountaineering around the world from the Alps and Himalayas to Patagonia and Canadian icefalls.
In its further development, C.A.M.P. clearly focused on innovation and careful analysis of market trends.
In the mid-80s, branches were opened in France and the USA, serious investments were made in the development of production: in partnership with Aludesign, a factory was created for the production of aluminum alloy products, in particular carbines.
C.A.M.P. is one of the few companies that clearly describes its strategy and its competitive advantage. C.A.M.P. is well aware of how it differs from other manufacturers.
The main direction of development is innovation, non-standard solutions, new types and samples of equipment, cooperation with leading climbers allows you to make equipment that is really in demand by mountain lovers. The most important characteristic of any climbing tool is weight. Anyone who once walked for many hours under a backpack, or overcame the most difficult section of the rock, hung with guy wires and bookmarks, knows this. It is weight reduction for the preservation of all standards of strength, reliability, durability - one of the highlights of C.A.M.P. Twenty years ago, C.A.M.P. set a carbine weight record - 33 grams. Twenty years later, C.A.M.P. broke its record - the new Nanowire carbine, which appears in 2007, weighs 28 grams! This is just one example.Look through the catalogs, you will see that almost every section has samples that have a record low weight.
As in other spheres of life, product development goes one way with business development. Now C.A.M.P. is sold in 60 countries and, along with Black Diamond and Petzl/Charlet, is the most common brand of climbing equipment in the world.
The quality system is certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 9001:2000. C.A.M.P. also owns the Cassin brand, manufactured in Colorado, USA.
C.A.M.P. also won respect as a brand of equipment for industrial needs: high-altitude work, rescue operations, the army and special services of many countries preferred a brand with a century of history.
Now, at the beginning of the new millennium, C.A.M.P. is ruled by the fourth generation of the Codega family: Eddie, Paolo, Antonio, Giovanni, Isacco and Andrea. Like their predecessors, they do not change the company's strategy. Strategy of innovation, high quality and good brand name C.A.M.P.
